Ford Presidential Library Novembe 5, 1976 Office of the White House Press Secretary NOTICE TO THE PRESS The President today appointed Robert E. Matteson, of Cable, Wisconsin, to be Chairman of the Quetico-Superior Committee. He succeeds Charles S. Kelly whose term expired on July 29, 1975. Mr. Matteson is a consultant and writer; and former Director of the Sigurd Olson Institute of Environmental Studies in Cable, Wisconsin. The Committee was established to promote the protection of the primitive quality of the Quetico-Superior canoe country, which lies in the Rainy River and Pigeon River drainages along the International Boundary between Canada in the province of Ontario and the United States in the State of Minnesota. # # #
