wish a special investigation made of the charge that he has
been discriminated against as compared with other men.
1 desire that Col. Alexander Q. Brodie, of Crown Point,
Arizona, be communicated with by the Department and if possible
be employed as a special agent to report upon the matter, or, if
this be not done, that you yourself, Mr. Secretary, personally
appoint some man in whom you have entire trust to personally
look into this matter, and report thereon at the earliest pos-
