My dear Mr. Smith:
I am in receipt of your letter of the 6th instant,
with enclosures, relative to charges against J. M.
Lawrence, which has been noted by the President. He
thinks it very saiisfactory and will be glad to see a
copy of Mr. Lawrence's affidavit as soon as it is re-
ceived.
