MEMORANDUM OF CONVERSATION
WITH THE PRESIDENT

Malik Conversations
I went over with the President Mr. Jessup's
conversation with Mr. Malik, as reported in
Mr. Jessup's memorandum of April 11. I also in-
formed the President that we would immediately
inform the British and French and that our first
impressions led us to recommend (a) that we should
not be in a hurry to make a reply, and (b) that we
should not attempt to decide on the substance of
the reply now, but report our more specific recom-
mendations to the President later.
The President approved this course.
