S. Delegation Madame Fandit stated that the purpose of hor visit was to continue the convereation that ahe had with the Secrotary the other ovening, rolativo to Korea. The Secretary said that he had not yot had an opportunity to discuss with Ambassador Gross the results of the lettor's neeting on Friday with Messrs. Menon, Pearson and Lloyd. He then inquired as to whother she had any specific plan for the solution of the Armistico difficulties in Korea. Ho Baid that he had somo idea as to what the Indian Delogation was proposing but that he had not seen "a piece of papor" which would permit him to study the proposal in detail. In setting up any plan for resolving the Korvan situstion, the Secretary commented, it was necessary that any proposal should carefully distinguish between the Commission that had been agreed to by the negotiators, nemely the Commission to be mado up of Poland, Csechoslevakia, Switzorland and Sweden and any other body that might be created. Morsover, in visualizing the croation of any new body to hendle the subject of priscners, provision would have to bo made for a clear deternination of its functions. In particular, precaution should be taken to avoid giving such a body any administrativo pouers which such a group, by its very nature, could not perform. As a case in point, the Secretary mentioned the fact that any Commission of a handful of people could not take over the responsibility for the prisoners who were in the process of being exchanged. The more mechanics of moving prisoners, feeding them and getting thome to an agreed point, wes beyond the capacity of a Commission.
