MEMOR ANDUM OF CONVERSATION
365
Participants: Mr. Eden
Mr. Schuman
Mr. Acheson
In the conversation between Mr. Eden, Mr. Schuman and
myself this afternoon, there was brief reference to the ques-
tion of the Saar. The conversation was largely in French
between Mr. Eden and Mr. Schuman, but, a.s roughly interpreted
by Mr. Eden, the discussion was inconclusive.
Mr. Schuman indicated that there was little difference
between him and Adenauer on the political aspects, but that
the economic aspects were still not settled. Schuman
recognized the need for early decisions in view of the pend-
ing German elections in 1953.
