THE INSTITUTE FOR ADVANCED STUDY PRINCETON, NEW JERSEY OFFICE OF THE DIRECTOR 10 September 1953 MEMORANDUM We had a brief discussion on September 9th of future plans of the seminar that Mr. Acheson has been conducting. We enclose a Jict of dates which have been chosen for the coming meetings, which will be held at the Institute for Advanced Study and will run, with appropriate interruptions, from mid-afternoon of the first day to the mid-afternoon of the second. With the exception of the November meeting, the days are Saturday and Sunday; the November meeting will be on Thursday and Friday. It is planned in these meetings to discuss further the major substantive questions of foreign policy during the period 1949-52. The first meeting will probably be devoted to the defense of Europe, the military assistance program, and the role of Germany in the defense of Europe.
