May 17, 1954. S. AND is SERVICES Dear Oppie: CONTINUED Lunch yesterday was most delightful. I have been thinking over our conver- sation about the transcript of our seiminar. The basis on which we held these seminars was that there would be only one transcript which would be in my possession. That was the understanding on which I invited my col- leagues to join me. I don't think it would be right or wise to change the rules. For that reason I think it would be best if we stayed with the original understanding. The calm fortitude with which you and Kitty are surviving the nightmare is conta- gious and inspiring. Thank you both. My best to you both. Sincerely yours, Dr. Robert J. Oppenheimer, Director, Institute for Advanced Study, Princeton, New Jersey.
