I. AUTHORIZED LEAVE AREAS: (AS-w)
Loavo Aroas Circular No. 1, Headquartors Services of Supply, Leave Areas
Bureau, is published for the information and guidanco of all concorned:
"I. By Par. 2, G.O. 65 Hq. S.O.N., Decembor 14, 1918, a Loave Areas Buroau
was established in Tours unlor the Goneral, S.O.U., to administer the

38, GoHoo, 1918, and soparatol by G.O. 217 G.H.Q. 1918 from the P.M.G. Dept.
"2. Tho Loave Aroas Bureau has no authority to approve or disapprove loaves
of
any kind. It is concerned es to the loave itsolf, only with the reservation in
a loavo area ofter pormission for, on a duty status, has boen granted by authority
to the soldior. Loavo on a duty status as proscribed by tho difforent G.O.'s pub-
lishod from timo to tim nocossitatos the provisions of tho followirg paragrophs

"3. Rescrvations in author ized Loove Aroas are made only through the Loave
Areas Bureau excop whoro spocial are mado, by which an Army may have
accommodations in certain Aroas reserved for its uso and mekos the assignments.
In
this latter caso, all. units concornod are advisod by Army Headquerters.
#4. Soldiors, on loavo, if on c duty status, will be furnishod in accordance
with Par. V, G.O. 130, G.H.Q. 1918, with trosportation by the Q.M.Corps at Govern-
mont expense whothor by spocial leave trairs on by corrorcial trains to and from
the Loavo Arez nomed to the Loave ireas
5. It will be by the best and most procticable routo and not at tho option
of the soldior. Quarters end rations, in tho hotols in th which contracts have been
mado, are furnishod the sollior at Govorn on' expenso. Unler such conditions, tho
soldior dons not recoivo the $1.00 por day mentiond in Perr. 1, G.O. 38, G.H.Q.
Travel rations are furnished by the soldior's unit or as may be arranged by Commend-
ing Genorals to and from the Loave Area.
"6. To obtain rosorvations in Leavo Aroas on a. duty status, (excopt whore
special arrengoments as notod in Par. 3 have beon mado), the Commonding Officor of
tho soldior's unit relios request diroct to tho Leavo Aroas Buromu, Tours, for tho
requirod accommolations
This request should Givo the station from which sont, the dopartment
in which situsted, the numbor of mon Going on leavo and if dosirod, the dato on
which the leave is to bogin in the Aron. If S.O.S. tro pps or othor troops not in an
Army, this should be stated. Troops in the lst, 2nd or 3rd Armies will receive
their instructions from firmy Headquarters as to assignment of Leave Area reservations.
If a specific date is not named, the earliest available date is alloted.
If
the reservation requested is for colored troops, it must bo so stated
so
thoy
can be sent to the Loavo Area roscrvod for their use.
All of is necessary to onablo the Bureau to cllot accommoda-
tions, and if not rocoivod, causos dolay.
"n, Tho roply, son direct, vill give the Roservation Numbor which is to bo
noted on the soldior's white leavo card with which ho must bo provided. This reser-
vation numbor is nocessory to idontify the soldior on arrival at the Leavo Aroa.
Tho roply vill also Civo tho aroa to which the sollior is to bo sent,
which is not optional with him.
Accommodations in an Aroa are assigned on the basis of the nearost
unfilled and most practicoble Aroa at the timo. This is necossary on account of
tromsportation and to insure tho bost use of all Areas.
The Loavo enrds my be obtainod from the Leavo Areas Bureau, Tours,
or ih smallor quntities from the Hoadquartors of an Army or a Base Section.
