NOTORAL a 643 GENERAL ORDER ) ) SERVICE No. 16 ) Cs The following general instructions re disposition of pro- perty, model form of certificates required and supplementery in- structions, are published for the information and guidance of all concerned; "headQuarters SECOND ARMY AMERICAN EXPEDITIONARY FORCES FRANCE Januery 31, 1919. From: Chief of staff, To: Commanding General, 35th Division, (Through IX Corps) Subject: Disposition of Property. 1. Preparatory to the movement of the 35th Division to Le Mins Area in compliance with G-3 Ordors No. 107, these hoadquarters, and pursuant to instructions contained in telogram 584 G-4 from Commanding General sos, the following will govern as regards disposition of property: 2. Troops will embark with individual mobile equipment, in- cluding steel helmets and gas masks. No rifle &mmunition will be carried. Each officer and first sergeant will be equipped with pistol or revolver and 21 rounds of ammunition. 3. N organization property will be chrried except records and such medical combat equipment as is necessary. 4. Animals of the Division, when no longer needed, will be disp sed of in accordance with instructions to be received from the Chief Remount Officer, Second Army. 5. All servicenble orgenization property nct provided for bove will be carefully packed or otherwise prepared for storege by the organization, in accordance with parreraph IV G.O. 212, GHQ, 1918, and under the supervisi n of a representative of the tochnical Service of the Second Army, to which the property pertains. "his serviceable property will bo delivered by the organization to such army depots or other places as may be designated by the re- presentative of the Technical Services, who will require a. certificate f inspection as provided for in G.O. 212, mentionod above. The bove certificates of inspecti n will be propared in triplicate in scocrdance Vi1 th the forms attached hereto, one copy to be retsined by the organization turning in the "property, one copy for the Chief f Service receiving the property, and one copy for G-4, sec. nd Army. 7. The following instructi ns will govern as to preparation £ ordnance property to be turned over to the Orânance Department: (a) ARTILLERY HARNESS will not be washed. I's will be thoroughly dry cleaned and given a light cost of Neatsfoo t oil. Neatsfoot oil should be sparingly applied. It hus been found that harness washed before packing has mildewed. The harness will then be placed in saoks which will be well tied up. The oquipment for each animal must be kept together. Boxes may be used for packing the harnesses if available. (b) CANNON will be thoroughly cleaned, oiled and greased, particular care being given to the bore and to ther bright parts of the gun and carriage. Muzzle and breach covers will be improvised if the reguler covers are not on hand, and vill (ovor)
