The following letter is published for the information of this Command: 11 HEADQUARTERS SECO ND ARMY Amerio Expeditionary Forces ARCHIVES ''NATIONAL RECORDS AND to SERVICE" 19 February 1919. From: Commanding General, Second Army. TO; Commanding General, 35th Division. Subject: Condition of Animal S and Animal Transpott. 1. I wish to express to you my appreciation of the excellent condition of the animals and animal transport of the 35th Division, now being turned in incidental to the departure of your command to the United States. 2. Unon arrival in the second Army area the troops of your division were as a whole not provided with sufficient stables, and very little covering for transport. Mangers, stables and stand- ing places have been improvised, The grooming, shoeing and feed- ing of animals; the repair and care of vehicles and harness; were so generally given proper care and attention that the animals and transport now being turned over to other troops are a credit to the Division and the Second Army. 3. I wish to particularly thank you and your Inspector of Animal Transport, Col. W. McD. Rowan, the personal efforts of whom I know have done much to accomplish this end, R. I. BULLARD.
