OCR Page 1 of 2THE WHITE HOUSE
WASHINGTON
October 23, 1946
Dear Nellie:
I appreciated your letter of the sixteenth
very much and I have been so covered up that
I haven't had a chance to sit down and write
you as I usually do.
That good for nothing Cyril Clemens is worse
than a "goose bite" - he spends most of his
time promoting himself on his seventh cousin's
reputation. I wouldn't pay too much attention
to him - I never answer his letters. His letter-
head is a big joke in our office - all he lacks
having on it is Jesus Christ and General Jackson.
He is a nut.
If Mrs. Townsend got to Washington I didn't hear
about it. I would have been glad to let her see
The White House. If you send me Mr. Townsend's
Scottish Rite certificate I'll sign it.
I hope Ethel and Aunt Ella are all well - we
will be seeing you next week, I hope.
TRUMAN
Sincerely yours,
