127 . November 6, 1945 My dear Mrs. Everett: Secretary Ross has referred to me your letter of November 4th, as I arrange all appointments for the President. I and sorry that it is not possible to give you a favorable reply regarding your request to bring in a committee of the Fort Ontario Refugees to see the President. XI feel sure, however that I do not have to explain to you just how pressed for time he has been dur- ing these past few months, and how difficult he is finding it to make any appointments other than those pertaining to the most urgent official matters. The matter about which you write seems to be one in which the State Department should be contacted, and I suggest, therefore, that you get in touch with that Department. With best wishes, and appreciating your cooperation, Very sincerely yours, TRUMAN S. NATIONAL ARCHIVES AND RECORDS SERVICE MATTHEN J. CONNELLY as Secretary to the President. Mrs. Evelyn Clay Everett, Hotel Gramercy Park, 52 Gramercy Park, North, New York, New York. rlk
