MEMORANDUM FOR WHITE HOUSE FILES
Subject:
Persian Oil - Lee-Factors, Inc.
Lee Factors, Inc., a firm which offered to supply oil
technicians to the Iranian Government, wired Mr. Harriman on
X 13 4
July 11, hoping to enlist his support in connection with
their offer. The next day a telephone call from Lee Factors
to Mr. Harriman was taken by Mr. Berger of Mr. Harriman's
staff who indicated politely but curtly that Mr. Harriman was
in no position to make any commitments.
In view of the foregoing, I do not think that it is neces-
sary for any reply to be made to the letter of July 11 addressed
to the President, especially since the firm has withdrawn its
offer to the Iranian Government according to their telegram
of July 12.
