82.7 February 21, 1947 1ty dear Mrs. Ford: I have for acknowledgment your letter of February seventeenth and sincerely regret that it is not possible to do as you ask. So many re- quests for autographs are received daily that if the President were to attempt to comply with them, he would have little time left for his manifold official duties. Because he has had to regretfully refuse in so many other instances, I feel sure you will realize how difficult it would be to make an exception. The two dollar bill which accompanied your communication is returned to you herewith. Very sincerely yours, MATTHEW J. CONNELLY Secretary to the President Mrs. Leon A. Ford, x 600 West B Avenue, Hutchinson, Kansas. Enclosure.
