Dear Governor Dewey:
I certainly did appreciate your letter of April
twelfth most highly. I have been a long time
acknowledging it because of the rush of matters
in the office here.
Thanks for your support in the winning of the
war and the establishment of a permanent peace.
Those, of course, are the two most important
things now pending.
Thanks again for your most cordial letter. It
is a terrific responsibility and we all feel
trenendously the loss of our great President.
With kindest personal regards, I an
Sincerely yours,
HARRY S. TRUMAN
Honorable Thomas E. Dewey
Governor of New York
Albany, New York
