Hon. John R. Steelman,
Assistant to the President,
The White House,
Washington , D.C.
Dear Sir :
Permit me to express my deep satis-
faction over the escape of President Truman from assassins 1 bullets.
The fanatical attempt On the life of
our President brings to the fore the necessity of universal re -
gistration, whereby all lawless elements may be kept under con-
tinued surveyance. I beg to suggest strict travel- restrictions
for all persons with criminal records and unpatriotic affilia-
tions
n the event of universal military
training may I further suggest a grouping of the unfit for
special physical or educational training as well as medical rehabi-
litation. The prevailing lack of discipline among our Youth breeds
contempt for Law and Order.
