incl 611/21/45 X P.P.F Follett, Texas m Oct. 30, 1945 President of the U.S. The White House Washington, D.C. Dear Mr. President: In Life Magazine of Oct. 22, 1945, pages 31 and 33 were the following statements: "His antidotes (meaning the President of the U.S.) for trouble were homespun; a handshake, A DRINK OF BERBON, a few laughs and a get together in a spirit of common sense around a fraternal table." "Traveling by plane and fast automobile, he visited five states, had time for two days of POKER at Reelfoot Lake Tennessee where he supposedly went for fishing." "There is nothing wrong with me that a little WHISKY would not cure, if they would let me have it." Mr. President, is that antidote, A DRINK OF BERBON, the example which you would like to see the people of the United States and the world follow? Do you think DRINK and POKER PLAYING is the prescription Christ would give to a world seeking PEACE? I am enclosing a copy of the "Prescription For Peace" which I trust you will have time to read and meditate. Respectfully yours, J.R. Myarty J.R. McLarty
