FOR HENDERSON
Thompson, Counselor of Brit Embassy told Biree
in confidence today that Saleh Jabur Minister of
Finance had informed him early this morning that
Regent had wired requesting $200,000 be made
available inuo in addition to 100,000 already
alloted to him "for personal expenses of himself
and party".
Two. Thompson had informed Min of Finance
that London would "take a poor view" of Regent's
request; that he would not then ask London for an
opinion and that it was up to Iraq Govt to provide
the money if it wished out of fourteen million
dollar exchange granted Iraq from sterling pool
for 1945.
