May 1, 1948 Dear Mr. Delano: I read your letter of April twenty-ninth with a lot of interest and a great deal of satisfac- tion. The balcony has turned out to be an artistic addition to the south front of The White House. I do not expect to have screens of any sort on that balcony - there will be only a few chairs at one end and they are not visible from the street. I'll be glad to talk with you about it when you come down. I am very doubtful about my having an opportunity to enjoy sitting on the balcony. I never have time to do anything but work when I am in The White House. TROWAN and AND Sincerely yours, HARRY S. TRUMAT Mr. Wm. Adams Delano 126 East Thirty-eighth Street New York 16, New York
