MEMORANDUM TO: The President
SUBJECT:
Modified Wood Floor Construction in the
Blue Room and the President's Study.
Due to the deplorable conditions in constructing the concrete
slabs in these rooms, a modified floor system has been developed
by P.B.S. in conjunction with the Contractor.
In my opinion this modified construction will not be satis-
factory and I have so informed General Edgerton in a memorandum,
a copy of which is attached hereto.
I had developed the best system of wood floor construction
possible after consultation with expert authorities, and it is
regrettable that existing conditions are such that only mediocre
and makeshift wood floors will be the result, if applied as is
now proposed.
In order that you may be currently informed, I am sending
you this information, together with my recommendations.
When Ed Neild is here next Friday, I will discuss the situa-
tion with him.
