Baghdad 1st October, 1946. My dear Mr. President, I have received with great pleasure Your Excellency's letter of 6th September, 1946, in which you were good enough to inform me that you have asked General George A. Brownell to visit Iraq en route to India in his capacity as Your Excellency's Personal Representative, with the rank of Minister. In expressing to Your Excellency my gratitude for the kind greetings which General Brownell has conveyed to me in your name, I have much pleasure to assure Your Excellency that my Government are doing their best to facilitate in every way possible the task entrusted by you to General Brownell with regard to the current negotiations toward the conclusion of an Air Agreement between our two governments. I have also much pleasure to assure Your Excellency that I still recall the pleasant memories of my visit to the U.S.A. in 1945, which, I feel, had a most beneficial effect in strength- ening the ties of friendship which have always existed be tween our two peoples. While earnestly hoping for another happy opportunity to meet Your Excellency, I avail myself of this occasion to express my best wishes for your happiness and for the prosperity of the noble American people. Very sincerely yours ARCHIVES AND INATIONAL RECORDS $ERVICE Abomeillah The President, The White House.
