Dear Mr. Ambassador:
I certainly did appreciate your good letter of
the ninth, which caught up with me in Honolulu.
I sincerely hope that the situation with the
President of Chile may be successfully worked
out. It is always good to hear from you and to
know the things that are happening in the Far
South Republic.
1 had a very successful meeting with MacArthur
and I believe things will work out in a very satis-
factory manner.
