PERSONAL AND CONFIDENTIAL
BY SPECIAL MESSENGER
Rear Admiral Sidney W. Souers
Special Consultant to the President
Executive office Building
Washington, D. C.
My dear Admiral:
Information has been received from a confidential
source considered reliable relative to alleged Communist
activities in Cuba and Guatemala, which I felt might be of
interest to the President and you.
The source has received information that the Cuban
Foreign office has been advised by their representative in
Paris that the Communists will allegedly make an attempt
against the life of Cuban President Carlos Prio Socarras,
and, that the Communists are allegedly planning a revolution
in Guatemala.
The above source was informed that the Cuban Foreign
office was furnished with a list of names of the persons
allegedly involved in the assassination attempt against the
Cuban President, but the only name the source was able to
obtain was that of Jose Carnero Camorraizo. According to the
information received by the source, Jose Carnero Camorraizo
is alleged to be a member of a Spanish action group and is
believed to be en route to Cuba via the United States. Further,
he is alleged to be a key figure in the plot and might possibly
be carrying a United States passport. No indication, however,
was given as to the date and mode of travel of this individual.
The files of this Bureau fail to reflect information
identifiable with Jose Carnero Camorraizo.
