Dear Lew:
1 am attaching a memorandum from the Chief
of Protocol in regard to the gift for Princess
S.
Elizabeth,
ARCHIVESTAND
ROCATIONAL
I enclosed in my letter of the seventeenth the
= =
cards of Mrs. Truman and myself so I think
under the circumstances it would be better to
be an individual gift from us rather than a
State affair.
I certainly appreciate all the trouble you have
been willing to go to in this matter and thank
you very much for it.
Sincerely yours,
HARRY S. TRUMAN
Honorable Lewis W. Douglas
American Ambassador
London, England
