Your efforts in the interest of Jews and other
displaced persons in Europe are appreciated.
I am aware of the complications of the problem
from your point of view. It also makes difficulties
for us.
It is hoped that we can work out a successful
program that will provide for them some measure of
relief at an early date.
I have today talked by telephone with Secretary

Byrnes and will take no further action in the matter
until after his return to Washington.
