EXECUTIVE OFFICE OF THE PRESIDENT
OFFICE OF THE DIRECTOR FOR MUTUAL SECURITY
WASHINGTON 25, D. c
NOV 1 2
MEMORANDUM FOR THE PRESIDEIT
A number of months ago, I mentioned to you, as
I an sure you recall, the possibility of awarding
the Medal for Nerit to Krs. Franklin D. Roosevelt.
Bill Hassett looked into this matter with Judge
and sone of the correspondence on the subject
is attached.
May I suggest that you might wish to consider
this matter again and possibly malce the award to
Mrs. Roosevelt some time during the coming weeks?
I know that I need not tell you the many rea-
sons shy I believe she deserves this award, for I
know your feeling of admiration for the way she has
worked in the cause of peace.
Respectfully yours,
Rowell
