1. Weather:
Scattered low clouds over central and northern Korea, broken to
overcast over southern coastal regions. Middle and high clouds broken
to overcast throughout period. Restricted visibility in early morning;
light intermittent rain throughout period. Forecast: Broken low clouds
over entire area in morning with light intermittent rain throughout period.

3. Operations
ENEMY SITUATION
a. KCNGJU-CHOCHIVON area. On the CHONAN-TAEJON axis
the 1st and 3d NK Divisions attacked supported by artillery and tanks.
This attack forced the withdrawal of the 21st RCT. (FECOM) (SECRET)
b. Similar enemy attacks forced a daylight withdrawal of the
34th RCT to delaying positions one mile north of KONGJU. Under cover of
darkness the 34th RCT later withdrew to prepared positions along the KUM
River. (FFCOM) (SECRET)
C. CHONGJU-UMSONG area. There was little action in this
area where the 2d NK Division is opposed by the 1st ROK corps whose
reserves are placed to protect CHC CHIVON. (FECOM) (SFCRET)
d. CHUNGJU-TANYANG area. Units of the 5th and 15th NK Div-
isions engaged the 6th ROK Division in the vicinity of CHUNGSAN. An
unidentified enemy force, probably elements of the 5th NK Division, attacked
the 8th RCK Division at CHONGNIM. (FECOM) (SECRET)
e. The enemy has an enveloping force in process of negotiating
the TAEBAEK mountain passes eventually threatening our TATGU-TAFJON
communication lines. (FECOM) (SECRET)
