1. Weather
WEATHER: Broken clouds based at 3,000 feet, visibility 10 miles
except in scattered rain showers Forecast: Overcast at 800 feet dissipating
by 1000/15 (KT). Broken middle clouds at 3,500 feet, scattered rain showers.

2. Soviet Participation
An unconfirmed report states that 50 Soviet officers arrived in SEOUL
by motor on 6 July. Thirty wore Soviet uniforms, the remainder were in civil.

3. ENEMY SITUATION
a. Two enemy attempts to cross the KUM River, in the vicinity of
Kongju, were repulsed with heavy enemy losses on the afternoon of the 14th of
July. Under cover of darkness, however, on the night of 14/15 July enemy forces
overran the positions of the 63rd F. A. Battalion supporting the 34th Infantry.
At this time the number and extent of the enemy forces south of the KUM River
are unknown (FECOM) (SECRET)
b. The First ROK Corps executed a planned withdrawal to the some-
what higher ground east and south of the Pogang River. In this area the 2nd
North Korean Division had driven nine miles south of Chongju to Munui.

C. In the Chungju-Mungyong corridor the 15th North Korean Division
continues its southward advance against the 6th ROK Division® (FECOM) (SECRET)
