NAVY SECRET q. HMS KENYA (CL), COCKADE (DD) and CONSORT(DD) are patrolling the west coast of Korea in the vicinity of 37-30N. HMS BEL. to FAST (CL) and COSSACK (DD), and U.S. JUNEAU (CLAA) and MANSFIELD (DD) to be joined by SWENSON (DD), are patrolling the east coast. (FECOM) (SECRET) r. Delayed operations report on the 16th of July revealed that the DEHAVEN (DD) fired 76 rounds at various targets in the vicinity of Pyong- hae. The MANSFIELD bombarded Pyonggok with 36 rounds. During the night of the 16th and early morning of the 17th, the DEHAVEN fired 75 rounds on the cliff road bridge at 36-53N at the request of the 25th Infantry Division. During the night of the 17th the MANSFIELD fired 144 rounds at the east coast road from Yonghae north to 36-40N. (COMNAVFE) (SECRET) S. Task Force 90 supported by elements of the 7th Fleet and Task Force 96 successfully landed 10,027 troops, 2,022 vehicles, and 2,729 tons of cargo on 18 July and 850 tons of cargo early on the 19th at Pohang. No casualties were suffered from any cause. Air cover was provided by carrier aircraft. (FECOM) (SECRET) t Results of carrier operations were as follows: First jet sweep of Wonsan resulted in the strafing of 5 large motor junks; train of tank cars and box cars strafed near Changjon, setting two or three tank cars afire; one locomotive destroyed; and 27 well camouflaged aircraft strafed, with 6 Yak-9's and 5 I1-10's left burning and others badly damaged; power substation partially destroyed by rockets; 5 oil tanks south of Kojin burned. First strike damaged rail bridge with rockets; destroyed rail bridge at Kojin with bombs; destroyed six-car coal train with napalm; and damaged a power station with rookets; strafed 6 box cars at Yangyang; destroyed more aircraft, for a day's grand total of 14 destroyed, 8 destroyed or heavily damaged, and 5 damaged. Second strike hit Wonsan oil refinery and left flaming with smoke visible 60 miles at sea. (COMNAVFE)(RE- STRICTED) U.S. AIR FORCE V. FEAF destruction figures for 19 July, based on pilot reports, include 33 aircraft, 6 tanks, 37 trucks, 2 other vehicles, and 2 bridges destroyed, and 8 aircraft, 18 trucks, 1 rail car, 5 other vehicles, 2 rail tunnels, and 3 bridges damaged. On 18 July, typhoon "Gracie" precluded the operations of Okinawa-based B-29's which were scheduled to bomb under supervision of ground control and to hit Kimpo airfield and Seoul. (FEAF) (SECRET) W.
