Weather: North of 35-30N, scattered low clouds 3,000 to 6,000 feet, becoming broken in northwest Korea. South of 35-30N, broken low clouds 3,000 to 6,000 feet, overcast in thin layers 10,000 to 30,000 feet, visibility 7 miles in haze, 3 miles in rain along south coast. Kyushu, light rain in west sections, broken low clouds 2,000 to 6,000 feet, gusts to 45 knots. Forecast: Southeast and east coasts, overcast 800 to 6,500 feet, visibility 1 to 3 miles in rain. Central Korea, overcast 2,000 to 7,000 feet, frequent thunderheads to above 30,000 feet. Visibility 1 to 2 miles. Kyushu, broken low clouds 3,000 to 7,000 feet, visibility unrestricted except 3 miles in showers, maximum winds 30 knots. (FEAF) (SECRET) 2. Soviet Participation: Negative. 3. Operations: ENEMY SITUATION a. As of the afternoon of 20 July, enemy points of contact from west to east were reported to be as follows: Yongdang ⑉ Iri @ o Chinnyong -- Yusong -- Yonggoye - - Namil-Myon i Yonggong -- Tae-san os Sanggong - Masong-Myon .. Hogye-Myon -- Yechon i Punggi -- Chunyang -- Yongdok® (FECOM) (SECRET) b. The 3d North Korean Division, reinforced, probably by the 4th North Korean division, has taken Taejon in a coordinated attack supported by heavy artillery fire and spearheaded by tanks. The enemy is employing infiltration tactics and road blocks to impede the retirement of the 34th U.S. Infantry. (FECOM) (SECRET) C. It is reported that enemy movements into assembly areas were made possible by the use, only at night, of pontoon bridges across the Kum River in the vicinity of Kongju.
