(FECOM) (SECRET)\ne. North Korean forces are counterattacking south of Yongdok\nbut the results of this action have not been reported. (FECOM) (SECRET)\nf A\nfour-engine aircraft (probably Pe-8 ) was sighted by\na U.S. reconnaissance pilot on 27 July on a NNV heading toward Pyongyang.\nThe aircraft was flying at an altitude of 8,000 feet and an approximate\nairspeed of 180 mph. No markings were observed. Flak encountered at a\nrailroad bridge near Seoul on 27 July was described as meager, inaccurate,\nand probably of 76-mm. (FEAF) (SECRET)\nU.S. ARMY\ng. The First Cavalry Division withdrew to new defensive positions\nas follows: 5th RCT astride the railroad southeast of Hwanggan; 7th RCT\nastride the railroad southwest of Hwanggan; 8ti RCT is in division reserve\nfour miles west of Kumchon, (FECOM) (SECRET)\nh. The 1st Battalion of the 29th Infantry (attached to the 34th RCT)\nrelieved the 1st Battalion (-) of the 19th RCT seven miles southwest of\nChinju. Companies A and D, 1st Battalion, 19th RCT are isolated in the\nvicinity of Anui. The 2d Battalion, 19th RCT is now deployed 5 miles south-\nwest of Chinju. The 3d Battalion of the 29th Infantry, in the vicinity of\nHadong, withdrew after heavy casualties to the vicinity of Chinju. The 34th\nRCT arrived in the vicinity of Kochang. (FECOM) (SECRET)\n1. The 25th Division under heavy attack has readjusted its lines\nas follows: The 27th RCT along a line 2 miles south of Hwanggan; the 24th\nRCT along a line northeast-southwest of Hwaryongjang; the 35th RCT along\na line 3 miles west of Sangju, (FECOM)(SECRET)\nSOUTH KOREAN ARMY\n1. The 3d ROK Division is engaged one mile south of Yongdok.\nThe Capitol Division continued its defense north of Yechon. The 8th ROK\nDivision withdrew to new defensive positions along the river line about 3\nmiles east of Ongchon® The 1st ROK Division counterattacked and is now\nin position in the vicinity of Hogye-Myon.
