-2- C--Sure. It's obvious as hell to me. H--That's what I told JOHN and he wanted to know whether JOE knew (DREW) PEARSON or not. C--He knows him, but I'm sure he's never been near PEARSON But he can help. H--But that isn't the idea. It isn't JOE that would be leaking. C--That's right. H--Tom. What's going on? C--The world is rolling over. I'm getting more worried about things. I see them from a political standpoint and you see them from an economic standpoint. I want to get out of here next week and go to Mayo's for a month, to get my weight off and get my sinus cleared up and make sure I'm in shape. Then I'm going to form the CRAVATH and HENDERSON of Washington, and try to get three floors from you if I can get them, and go to work. And if anybody gets those three floors over the Treasure Island Building, across from where you and I lived, before I get them both from you--I shall never forgive you. H--You don't need to worry about that. Tom, what's EMIL (SCHRAM?) doing? C--Sitting around picking daisies hoping for some kind of immaculate conception that will resolve his dilemna. H--Tom, I think that it's more in it than that. I talked to a guy the other day who knows and he said EMIL plans to come to Washington and set up an office of some kind. C--You mean for the Exchange? H--No, for himself. C--I don't believe that. I've heard that about everybody. I hear LEO CROWLEY was going to practice law and EMIL was going to practice promotion and everything else. H--He's approached SAM H. HUSBAND (RFC) about being his representative someplace else around. I don't know where. C--What's he going to be, a promoter? H--A high pressured lobbyist I suppose. Don't ask me. I wasn't in a position to ask questions, but that's what SAM told me. C--He's willing to give up his contract then? H--He said that JOHN has offered him the job as Federal Loan Administrator. C--You mean EMIL? No--Sam. Nothing could be worse. C--Well, you know what the Federal Loan Administrator is going to be. He's going to be fundamentally lending to Europe, and nothing to do with the RFC. H--Well, nothing could be worse. SAM I mean. Absolutely the worse thing that could happen -- except JESSE (JONES?) C--Has JOHN offered the job to him?
