- 2 - 11:45 PM TOM CORCORAN to WORTH, CLARK (Continued): TC - Did he get the report? WC - No, that's a long story on that, TOM. TC - Well, the answer is, we're not going to get it. WC - The answer is that we've got most of it. BROWNELL had lunch with PRICHARD, not the one you know, but he was a member of the Committee that made the award, and "he" gave "him" the basis of the report, I mean the mathematical formula, which is what they call "lease plus", and so a memorandum is coming in from that on LABERST in the morning, and so we'll have all that; we've got everything except the report. GODDARD couldn't get the report as JASSPON is holding it on his desk. However, I'll have the report the first thing in the morning on BILLEM (phonetic), CHAVEZ went over it today, and so BENNETT is all steamed up, he says WORTH I haven't had a drink in two and one-half months, which I have reason to believe because VIRGIL is with his sister, so he said he's ready to go to town on the whole proposition, and he said he'd tell him he's getting on the bench, etc., well that's that. TC - Did you notice ANDERSON announced there would be more soaps and more fats and oils this quarter? WC - No. TC - I think he said there'll be five per cent more soap, but no more sugar. WC - Now on ROBINSON, we can use just as much time as is necessary. TC - O.K., and TIM (MOONEY ?) told me he'd be in all week too. I.told you about my talk with CRAVEN. I met PAUL MCKEE up in New York, who said he'd be in on Saturday, too. WC - I talked to KINSEY yesterday. Well, they're extremists. If we can just survive the whole damn picture, we're O.K. TC - What do you mean, survive it? WC - Physically. TC - Oh, yeah, we'll try. WC - They're in bad shape, RICHARD called me last night from Nebraska Power, and he's offered us a very substantial portion of his fee. TC - How's that one going? WC - It's going swell. TC - Did you have a talk with MANLEY? WC - No, he's resigned, I congratulated him. He's going to be here for another two or three weeks, so the talk will occur when it counts. TC - That MEYERS bunch will move in on those two new Commissioners sure as hell; we've struck with the King in that case, boy, and we've got to either kill them or they'll get even with us all over the place. WC - I got your word over on DOOLITTLE to BRIDGES today. BRIDGES is really moving in, but Christ, he can't beat DOOLITTLE. I talked to JOHN DANEHURT (phonetic) at great length about it, and he says By God if DOOLITTLE is in the picture, you're just sunk. I talked to BURTON tonight and he's very happy. We're pretty well set every- place. TC - Well, I don't know about this C.A.B. business. WC - I don't either. Now (STANLEY) KENNEDY went to New York today. He
