people.The problems that you encountered in settling this territory convinced you

of the neceesity of working together for the common good of all.
And you were convinced that no nation can ever be truly great unless all of its
people have a chance to earn a good living.
You have supported the Democratic Administration in the fight that it has
waged since I933 to advance the welfare of the common man.
You haré helped to obtain labor legislation that brought shorter hours,
higher wages and better working conditions for everybody in labor.
You backed our efforts to obtain social security benefits for the aged,
bank deposit insurance to safeguard your life savings, security regulations to
caused
prevent a repitition of the financial excesses of the twenties that broughtnon
the depression, and a farm program that brought real prosperity to the farmer, and
helped him produce the huge quantities of food required to win the war.
