In recent weeks we have heard much about the accomplishments
of the Republican Party since 1932. They have told us about social
security--the absence of bank failures--probitable return to the working
man for his labor--the home owners' relief that saved him from eviction
and made it possible for him to retain his hard won property--the human
consideration which dispensed with breadlines and soup kitchens--the
enactment of legislation which brought new prosperity to industrialists,
capitalists, small business men, laborers and white collar workers.
Yes, we have heard in glowing terms how the Republicans have elevated
the American people from the despair that engulfed us in the tragic years
of the Hoover Administration. This great Republican crusade we are now told
had its beginning when Franklin D. Roosevelt entered the White House.
Yes, great gains have been made and we Americans know it. We
do not have to be told who is responsible. We know that those gains are
but a beginning--We know that we are going forward. We know that we will
never go back to the standards of living we were subjected to under a
Wall Street controlled economy.
