Secret Service Subject : Information regarding persons responsible for pre- sentation of gifts to the President and his family at San Juan, Puerto Rico, and St. Thomas, Virgin Islands. At san Juan, a collection of miscellaneous gifts was presented to the President prior to the reception at La Fortaleza by Governor Pinero. These gifts were received from various well-wishers of the President, residing in San Juan and having businesses in Puerto Rico. An appro- priate letter to Governor Pinero should serve to thank all of the persons who presented gifts. At St. Thomas, a collection of miscellaneous gifts was presented to the President by Mr. Ralph Paiewonsky, Chariman of the Reception Com- mittee. These gifts represented items sent by various personages who live in the Virgin Islands. An appropriate letter to Mr. Paiewonsky should serve to thank all persons who presented gifts.
