mõon rises in the east and sets in the west is
approved reality because the recognition by the
populace of this occurrence does not threaten the
men at the power base of the government. On the
other hand, the fact that President Kennedy was
thrown backwards by the force of the fatal shot is
unapproved reality because the official scapegoat
was behind the President -- in the opposite direction
from the source of the shot -- and general recognition
of this fact would threaten the base of power. Conse-
quently the Zapruder film, which clearly shows what
actually happened to the President, remains hidden
from the people and the mass media do not refer to
the matter except in the inverted terms of the
officially approved unreality.
If, for example, a night watchman were to catch the
Chairman of the Joint Chiefs stealing chickens he
would be stumbling across unapproved reality. The
night watchman predictably would be discredited and
denounced for his delusions. He would be fired from
his job because of his conduct, carefully observed by
the Federal Bureau of Investigation and intensively
investigated by the Internal Revenue Service.
A
potential communicator of unapproved reality is a
serious threat to national security as defined by the
warfare forces.
The result is a warning to all others in the super-
state not to stray into areas of unapproved reality.
After the night watchman has been drawn and quartered
and tossed aside, few will wander into the off-limits
sector any more.
The creation of such inanities as acceptable reality
and unacceptable reality is necessary for the self-
preservation of the superstate against its greatest
danger: understanding on the part of the people as to
what is really happening. All factors which contri-
bute to its burgeoning power are exaggerated.
