OCR Page 1 of 48The Italian press remarked, that the Romane "Center" was only
a branch of Switzerland's organization Permèdex" which the
Swiss press has openly accused of "criminal activity" and de-
manded a government investigation on its activities.
In particular "Permidex" financed O.A.S. groups in France.
A request by Swiss deputies to the government concerning their
activity still remains unanswered.
But it is very clear, it is remarked in Rome, that both "Permi-
dex" and its branch in Italy, were only a curtain, that cove-
red one of the offices of the CIA.
In 1964, the Roman "Center" was closed, because it began to
attract too much public attention.
It has since been revived under the same name in South Africa,
in the city of Johannesburg.
Italian public opinion, writes the left wing press, awaits to
see what will be said in. the-official cirdes about. this matter
v. Ermakov.
