    "ocrText": "November 26, 1963\nMr. J : E. Curry\nChief of Police\nSubject: Assignment Oi Officer\nloy ii. Vaughn in1939\nSundey, Novembor 24, 1963\nSir:\nit amprozimately 9:00 while working Squad 105, Officer\nRoy E. Vaughn received a call to call Extension 511. Officer\nL. C. Taylor advised me to roport to the City Hall and to park\nthe squad car on the stroot and report to Station 511.\nit approxinately 9:15 A.M. or 9:50 hello, Lieutenant R. S. Pierce\ntold Officers A. R. Brock and B. Go Patterson; R. C. Nelson, and\nI to report to Sergeant Patrick I. Dean in the basement of the\nCity Hall.\nOfficer B. G. Tatterson and I were instructed by Sergeant Dean to\nguard the north and south ramos of the City Hall. I was ascigned\nto the Main Street Ramp.\nDuring this time there were several police vehicles which contained\npolice officers that entered the basement by this rampo\nAt approximately 10:15 A.H. Ex-Police Officer N. J. Daniels came by\nthis location and remained until after the shooting occurred.\nit anproxinately 11;18 A.M. a city squad car which contained Lieutenant\nfierce, Sergeant Maxey and Sergeant Putnam exited by this remp.\nAt aproximately 11:21 ..M. I heard what sounded to be a shot, I\nstayed by the post and allowed no one to enter or leave the basement\narea. After the shooting, about five (5) police reserves were sent to\nthis ramp to assist with the crowd and traffic.\nit approximately 12:45 P.M. a white male approached me at this entrance\nand stated that he was an employee of Jack Ruby and would like to talk\nto someone about this. I escorted this person to the basement of the\nCity Hall ofter being relieved on my post by a police reserve and called\nCaptain Fritz's office and Detective Boyd came to the basement and toole\ncustody of this person.\nI contacted Lieutenant Pierce in the Patrol Office and he advised me to\nsecure the post and return to service with the Dispatcher.\nRespectfully submitted,\nthe through\nRoy E.
