Tuesday Sept 23
SST day. P. made the annent at 9:00- but
it had leaked last nite- probably by Seoop
Jackson. For the first time, we had a really
well-prepared game plan ahead of time - due to
also ramming it through yesterday
Then some AM appts -incl. fairly long session
with mitchell after a mts of him - Sen Griffin u
Hayneworth appt. appears it may bein some
actual trouble Griffin mtg was on this - secret.
Minor flap at start of the day because there
had been no speech material prepared fn Tricia
for her trip to Phile to open a neeseum exhibition
Problem is still almost complete back of comm.
between Eastt West wings. Hope Stuarts return
will resolve this
P. is all ofa sudden examned with use of the
dictaphone - and is speciing out means by the
carload - plus about double the volume of news
summary marginal comments. Pushing me hard
on both PR organization - and staffre -structure
