K: I'm off to Los Angeles. We're going to do something about the
negotiations tonight.
J : I wanted to ask you about that.
K: I have not told Phil, and I think you should.
J: Okay.
K: And we want him to stay on.
J: All right.
K: Second, the President wants to see the few fellow in San
Clemente on Satruday. That's been laid on, but I think Phil and you
should come out too and I wanted to make sure you could come.
It would kill the stories that State was not present and it would be
good for you to be there for substance.
J: You will give me a time on it?
K: Yes.
J : You are agreeable for me to tell Phil?
K: Yes, as long as he can keep it tight lid. We want no leaks.
But I think we should have Phil come too. You plan to be here Friday
night and we'll meet at 10:00 Saturday morning. I'm getting a backchannel
off XXXXX to the Secretary and we'll inform him.
J : Okay. On the Thai drawdown, I'm convinces that it's reasonable.
I think we should ge ahead.
K: The Secretary (?) raised it with the President and he put
a stop on it.
J: Well Dave and I have discussed it and I am prepared to go ahead
on it. Each of the items makes sense in itself. I think it's managable.
K: Okay,
