HAK: I just couldn't see you before I left. I thought to do it tonight if you are free.
K: I have tonight my friend Gen. Rowney at my home who wants to tell me about
NATO.
HAK: It's not -- I like Rowney but --
K: We should talk alone. I only say it so you don't have the feeling I say no.
HAK: We are such good friends it couldn't happen.
K: Another evening would be better. He is here for only a couple of days.
I can't disinvite him.
HAK: Of course not. I cannot do it this week but will find an evening next week.
I understand Haig is seeing you.
K: No, that's a mistake. Rowney is seeing Haig but without me. I had the
impression that Haig's office got that wrong.
HAK: I know khexetheir capacity for getting things wrong.
K: I was aghast that his secy. thought that. No, only for Gen. Rowney. I am
not seeing him. They can talk better when they are alone. Rowney has some
technical things to explain.
HAK: I will see you sometime next week. I will work it out next week.
