Mr. President.
P:
Hi, Henry. All set for your Gridiron tonight?
K:
Yeah, I'm all set for it.
P:
That will be a bore.
K:
Oh, God, I just bet McGovern is going to give one of those horrible
self-righteous speechs again.
P:
Of course, that would be good if he did -- from our standpoint -- but
my guess is that -- He's advised, Henry, by so many really clever
people. What he will do will be very funny for the first 10 minutes and
then the question is whether he does the last part well. That's going
to be his questions. But he may do it well; he may want to turn the
crank a little. Let me say, I would like to see him look pretty good.
You know why? Because I d'd like to see -- I don't want him to go down
the tube. I mean, let's keep that
K:
I see your reasoning now.
P:
Yeah, we don't want him to look all that bad, see?
K:
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
P:
Otherwise, because at the present time his following is just flittering
away but I want them to be right there where it belongs.
K:
That's a good point.
P:
Right. I was thinking a little about our Pakistan thing. I just want to be
sure that the Chinese are going to do everything they should here. You
know we talk about third countries and the rest, what the hell is the
matter with their take weapons carriers. Why can't they use Chinese
weapons carriers and we - -
K:
Mr. President, we -00
P:
Provide the money.
K:
Well, the money isn't any good to them. The Chinese have given them
equipment for two divisions. They've just given them 25 bombers.
P:
