K: All we would say is the Soviet Union and US have now been
informed. Otherwise we agree except for a footnote.
D: What footnote?
K: That at the same conference the Soviet Uniont will announce the
destruction of its SS-9s. My proposal is to put all the new ones on
the submarines, and that would sink all your submarines. You
remember the proposal we madé last year.
D: remember the proposal you made last year.
K: Wait a minute, one other change -- on page 2. where
that
new
phrase you added. . and later by special appointment. . Just 'with
Ambassadorial rank. 11 Take out "the. 11 That's a minor thing. A
good letter.
D: As we discussed yesterday . the same.
K: But otherwise, that's acceptable.
D: When shall we start the meeting?
K: I understand that the Foreign Minister isn't back in Egypt.
D: Well, that's alright.
K: Frankly, we have nobody to deal with in the Foreign Ministry
except the Foreign Minister.
D: Alright, when do you think?
K: As soon as he is back.
D: You mean in Egypt?
K: That's what I mean, in Egypt. In other countries we don't care.
D: In Jordan and Egypt we will act together and in Syria and in Israel
we are separate. I think it should be done in Egypt.
K: Yes. Why don't we say Wednesday. I think the whole happy crew
will be back on Wednesday -- or Tuesday.
