TELCON Schlesinger/Sec. Kissinger March 8, 1974 4:00 p. m. K: How are you? S: Pretty good. Long time no see. Cne of my people checked with Kraft about the alleged statement to the effect of the laziness of Paul and that Kraft denies ever having heard such a thing. A burn lead. K: Good. S: In the press department Jerry tells me that Getler has a story on the one thousand barrels a day going to Southern Cal out of Saudi Arabia. K: Where. S: Going to Standard Oil of Southern California for the fleet. It apparently comes out of industry sources. I think Jerry persuaded him not to mention the country or company. Just to indicate that we are having expanding ability to attract sales from abroad and mush it up that way. I thought you should know that. That seems to be leaking. K: Yes. Our oil company excutives have a stupidity that would be criminal if it were not unintentional. S: Right K: It is hard to see how one can be SO unintentionally stupid. I know it is unintentional. S: I don't know if you want to warn Akins of it. K: Perhaps I had better do it and tell him to calm down. It could not bxxxxxxxx come at a worse moment before the oil meeting. S: Do you want us to ask Getler to kill it.
