TELCON David Rockefeller/HAK 9:31 a. m. 13/22/74 K: Hello. R: Henry Hello. Thank you so much for calling back. There were just two things I wanted to mention to you. (1) There has been no one in the OECD Ambassadorship for a long time. K: No, we are appointing somebody within the next week. R: Oh you are because I had a suggestion that might make sense namely Dewey Dane. K: Who is it. R: Dewey Dane was Governor was one of the Governors of the Federal Reserve Board and was not reappointed I think largely because he had been appointed originally by President Kennedy but he had been in the Federal Reserve for 35 years and I think he is one of the most experienced people in this field. K: We pretty much have somebody already. R: OK. Then you won't need him. The other thing is the Dartmouth Conference is meeting in the Soviet at the end of April. I wonder whether it might be good for the steering committee of three or four people to have a brief word with you after you come back from the Soviet and before we go because it is -- the way things are going it might be helpful. K: I favor that. R: Would you. Could we set that up. K: Could you set it up with Eagleburger or Campbell. I just don't have my calender here. R: I don't mean with you. I mean with them. If you approve of the idea. K: Certainly. I do approve of the idea. R: Incidentally, I thought that Jim Callaghan's talk was encouraging. K: Very good yes.
