General Scowcroft/Secretary Kissinger
March 22, 1974
9:55 PM
S: Yes sir.
K: Did you ever talk to Whick em (phonetic) about his boss.
S: Yes I talked to him.
K: Are they quieted down.
S: He said, he told him what I said and he said he didn't really answer. He said,
he's been in a funny mood all day and he said - well I talked to him twice, earlier
t his morning and passed it on then I talked to him later this afternoon and he said
it's been a bad day and he said it even could be the fact that Ducket (phonetic)
didn't include the backfire bomber in his briefing charts, SO he must have said
something to Whickem about that, otherwise there was no way Whickem would
know. He said, I really XXX don't know what's gotten after him.
K: SANITIZED
S: Oh, he is.
K: Don't you think?
S: Oh yes, there's no question about it.
Very much SO. That's what gets him
hung up on some of these things.
K: y es.
S: Maybe he's upset because he - I'd say he caved almost completely in terms
of pulling the rug out from under previous defense positions.
K: That's what I think.
S: Maybe he's upset about doing that. I don't know.
K: You think I should call him tomorrow?
S: You might just call him to say - did he seems upset with you when you
talked with him after the meeting.
K: He seems very preoccupied.
S: You might just call him to you know, sort of to say goodby.
K: SEX OK.
