CHAPIN APPENDIX "D" VIEWING OF THE P. S. 270 SAVINGS BONDS EAGLE THE WHITE HOUSE TUESDAY, APRIL 15, 1969 THE PRESIDENT: At 4:00 p.m. you will be escorted from your office to the South Lawn where you will meet approximately 40 Fifth Grade students from Public School 270 of the Bedford Stuyvesant district, Brooklyn, New York. They will show you their 60 by 90 foot reproduction of the campaign eagle symbol of the U.S Savings Bonds Program. Today is the kickoff of the 1969 Savings Bonds Campaign. Also in attendance will be Miss Eva Gabor, television and motion picture star and Honorary Co-Chairman of the 1969 Campaign; Miss Rose Deering, Acting Principal of P. S. 270; Mr. Anthony Perry, President ot the P. T.A.; Senator Javits; Congressman Rooney; Mrs. Siemers, and a representative of the International Union of Operating Engineers, which financed the project and the trip to Washington. NOTE: Mr. Howard Siemers, School Engineer of P. S. 270, originated and supervised this project, but is unable to attend as he was stricken with a heart attack last week.
