Dillon Latchford Glass Company Post Office Box 71707 Los Angeles 1, California Dear Mr. Dillon: This is to follow up your recent correspondence with Dick Nixon inviting him to address an interclub luncheon meeting of the Huntington Park Klwanians. Much as he would like to accept your kind invitation, the Schedule Committee is unable to clear a date in the foreseeable future when he could visit the Huntington Park Klwanians. We feel certain you appreciate the many problems involved, both in geography and time, in setting up Mr. Nixon's speaking engagements for the next few months. However, we are taking the liberty of keeping your letter in our pending file with the hope that perhaps a meeting sponsored by all the service clubs in your area could be worked out. With this in mind, we would like to have your thoughts on the possibility of such a joint service club meeting in the Huntington Park area. Again, many thanks for your thoughtfulness in writing. Sincerely, H. R. Haldeman HRH:jr bcc: MM February 8, 1962 Mrs. Robert W. Denton 687 Keough Street Bishop, California Dear Mrs. Denton: Many thanks for your letter of January 30th inviting Dick Nixon to speak at the annual dinner for the scholarship students at Bishop Union High School sometime this spring. You can be sure he would like very much to join you and these outstanding students at this interesting meeting. However, because the Schedule Committee was unable to work out a suitable date in the foreseeable future when he could visit Bishop, he must reluctantly decline your kind invitation. Also, we fully appreciate the necessity for your obtaining a speaker who can give you a definite commitment for this event. We feel certain that you understand the many problems involved both in time and geography, in setting up Mr. Nixon's speaking schedule for the next few months, and we are extremely sorry our answer must be as it is. Again we very much appreciate your thoughtfulness in writing. Sincerely, H. R. Haldeman February 8, 1962 Mr. George C. Delury, Jr. Office of Clerk Board of Supervisors County of Mono Bridgeport, Celifornia Dear Mr. Delury: This is to follow up your recent correspondence with Dick Nixon inviting him to speak at the Dedication Services in connection with the nevly built Medical Center at Bridgeport, sometime in April. Mr. Nixon definitely would like to participate in this outstanding event sometime in April, and as soon as the Schedule Committee is able to work out a mutually convenient date for him to visit Bridgeport, we will get in touch with you. Again, thank you for your thoughtful invitation. You will be hearing from us shortly. Simcerely, R. R. Haldeman HRH:jr been Jean Dewey San Francisco MM February 2, 1962 Rebert M. Drake Commander, USMR Commanding Officer Naval Reserve Officers School 11-7 Naval Air Station Los Alamitos, California Dear Commander Drake: This will confirm Dick Nixon's acceptance of your kind invitation to address the Leadership Seminar of your Naval Reserve Officers' School at Los Alamites on March 24th. You can be sure Mr. Nixon 1s looking forward to this fine event. Mr. Booth Turner of our office will be handling arrangements. I would suggest that you designate one person in your organization as his contact for all plans on this meeting in order to avoid any con- fusion. Meanwhile, please let Mr. Turner hear from you 1f you have any questions. Sincerely, H. R. Haldeman HRH:jr bcc: Mr. Booth Turner January 31, 1962 Mr. Robert S. Davis P.O. Copy of my acknowledgment is attached. January 27, 1962 Mr. John Walton Dinkelspiel Dinkelspiel & Dinkelspiel 405 Montgomery Street San Francisco 4, California Dear John: I'm sorry a reply to Mr. Ham has been delayed. Actually, the Schedule Committee tried to work in the Stanford invitation, but it just doesn't look possible at this time. As a matter of fact, I have just written him and am enclosing copy of my letter 50 you will have the story. Mr. Coffee's letter giving details on the Concordia- Argonaut invitation will be taken up by the Schedule Committee and we'll get back to him as quickly as possible with a reply. It would be wonderful if we could do them all, but I'm sure you're the first to recognize the problems we are confronted with - not only as to time - but geography. We're doing our best, however, Your regards will be passed along to Dick, and let's hope we get together soon. From the reports, I'm sure you realize the trip up there last week was a minute-by-minute schedule. Best wishes. Sincerely, H. R. Haldeman File - to Schedule x-D \ X - Chron. January 18, 1962 Mr. John Walton Dinkelspiel Dinkelspiel & Dinkelspiel 405 Montgomery Street San Francisco 4, California Dear John: Thanks very much for your letter of January 15th. 1 am sure Dick would like very much to appear at a dinner of the Concordia-Argonaut Club if it can be worked into his schedule. I wonder if you could ask Mr. Coffee to send us a specific invitation, or at least an indication of what dates might be suitable for him? I would also appreciate a little background information on the Club for my own guidance. We tried to work out the Temple Beth-el appearance, but could not clear a mutually satisfactory date early in the year. We are trying to work out a time, perhaps in May, and will let you know how this develops. Obviously it would be an extremely desirable appearance. Please keep us posted on any other thoughts or suggestions you may have. Hope I'll be seeing you in San Francisco before long. In the meantime, best regards. Sincerely, H. R. Lake Avenue Pasadena, California Dear Miss Duvall: This is to follow up your previous correspondence with Mr. Nixon regarding your kind invitation to participate in the March 15th meeting of the Pasadena Unit of Pro America. Much as he would like to accept, his schedule for March is fully committed, and he must reluctantly decline to join you. Again, you may be certain that he would like to accept your cordial invitation, and is extremely sorry that a prior com- mitment on that date makes this impossible. Sincerely, H. R. Haldeman January 23, 1962 Mr. William J. Dale 2707 North Kent Road Broomall, Pennsylvania Dear Mr. Dale: Thank you so much for your letter and for sending along your resume. Needless to say, offers of assistance are always gratefully received. I would suggest you get in touch with us after the bar examination in mid-August. It is, of course, impossible to indicate what the situation will be at that time, but we would appreciate your checking with us again. Meantime, If you have any thoughts or suggestions you feel would be helpful, please don't hesitate to write me further. Many thanks again for your thoughtful letter. Sincerely, H. R. A. County Southwest District Junior Achievement meeting on January 25th. Your letter was carefully considered by the Schedule Committee, but unfortunately, a prior commitment on that date prevents his acceptance of your kind invitation. He is extremely sorry to turn down your request because this is the type meeting he would like very much to attend. He extends every good wish for a most successful meeting on January 25th. He hopes that he may have the pleasure of getting together with the members of the Southwest Junior Achievement sometime in the future. Sincerely, H. R. Haldeman, Campaign Manager Nixon for Governor Committee 3908 Wilshire Boulevard Los Angeles 5 California Dear Mr. Haldeman, Your most courteous letter of December 5 received this week was deeply appreciated. If my fortunes improve finan- cially, do not be surprised if I do come back to California. Certainly if Mr. Nixon can throw out the rats that now con- trol California government and take over the governorship, I would like to bring my little business to California. Best of luck and the guidance of the Eternal God to you and Mr. Nixon toward a successful campaign. I shall tell my friends in California to support Mr. Nixon, and if able I hope that I may someday send a contribution. If you issue a weekly or monthly bulletin during the campaign, please place me on the mailing list for same. (A weekly bul- letin is a powerful campaign medium if it can reach all the voters, for the papers and broadcasting mediums do not give the true impetus to a candidates argument that a strictly run party bulletin can. The Democrats proved that here.) If in my humble way I can do anything to aid your campaign here in DC let me know.
